Guang’an City is located in the east of Sichuan Province, at the middle of Huaying Mountain Chain, and on the middle branch of Qujiang River and Jialinjiang River, which are 286 km away from Chengdu and over 100 km away from Chongqing. It is the furthest city in the east part of Sichuan Province. Huaying Mountain Chain passing through Guang’an Prefecture, Linshui County and Huaying City from north to south divides the whole city into two parts disaffinity in terms of the earth’s surface conformation. Linshui County in the east is a region full of parallel folded ridges and valleys; while Guang’an Prefecture, Huaying City, Yuechi County, and Wusheng County in the west have the character of hills regions, and both Qujiang River and Jialinjiang River flow through the area. Determined by the bulge of Huaying Mountain Chain and the descending of Qujiang River and Jialinjiang River, the physiognomy figure of Guang’an is high in the east and low in the west，and it has obvious differences in earth’s surface conformation .
Guang’an had been set up as an administrative prefecture in 1993, and was founded as a city in 1998. It has administrative jurisdiction over Guang’an Prefecture, Huaying City, Wusheng County, Yuechi County and Linshui County.
Besides traveling by air, Guang’an is also with convenience of transportation by railways, highways and ships. Electrization railway line between Xiangfan and Chongqing extends through north and south, with 6 railways stations. Among these, Guang’an Station is an important distributing center of materials and passengers, and six trains running from opposite directions stop at this station everyday taking passenger from Guang’an to Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi’an, Zhengzhou and Wuhan.
Communication in Guang’an develops greatly, and the city has realized the all round communication way combining data traffic, fibre communication, program control telephone net and wireless communication. At present, communication network of Guang’an has formed. Many communication companies, such as China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Netcom, China Railcom have set up their branches in Guang’an and established their own communication system. Public telephone using IC card can be found everywhere on town streets, and no communication blind area exists in each main scenic district or point.
In terms of cultural scenes, scenery places and industrial tourism resources, Guang’an has three general categories, 21 secondary classes, 40 varieties and more than one hundred places of interests. It has established one tour district for 4A class，four for 2A and one for 1A, and one national agriculture tour demonstration point. Former Residence of Deng Xiaoping is a national demonstration base for patriotism education and a major cultural relic enjoying State-level protection. Basing on this, Deng Xiaoping Hometown has taken on its style and features of natural memory garden, where is lush, green, in good order, people can feel its genial with respect and admiration.
