Day01 Chengdu – Pingle – Shangli
In the morning drive from Chengdu to Pingle Ancient Town, an important town on the ancient South Silk Road. Walking through the ancient town, you can feel the former prosperity. Afterwards drive over the Lianhuashan to Shangli ancient town. Shangli Old Town is called an “ink and Wash Landscape” painting. Situated in the Western Sichuan Basin, the town used to be an important post on the South Silk Road and the Ancient Tea-Horse Trail in history. In the morning drive to Bifengxia Panda Base, about 19 km from Ya'an City. The Bifengxia Panda Base is famous for the forest coverage, waterfalls, river and breathtaking landscapes. After the violent earthquake in Sichuan, the panda base in Ya'an became the largest panda reserve in the world, with over 80 giant pandas. There are over 20 research laboratories replicas bolsos and feeding centers including Panda Breeding Spots, Panda Kindergarten, Panda Hospital and the Research Centers. Then drive to Mt. Mengdingshan Mountain, where tea is cultivated since a very long time, is one of the main sources in the history of Chinese tea planting. Hiking in the mountain, visit of Tiangai Temple and the museum about the history of tea on Mengdingshan, built in the Emperor Yu’s Palace in Tiangai Temple. Late in the afternoon drive back to Chengdu.
