Dafengding National Natural preserve is located at the boundary between northeast border of Liangshan Meigu County and Mabian County, in 250 km away from Xichang and 75 km from Meigu county capital. The preserve has an area of beyond 600 km2, with the peak—Mojueejue in the elevation of 4,042 m. The preserve has a cool, humid, rainy and foggy weather, with an annual waterfall of around 1,100 mm and an annual average temperature of 9.6℃. The preserve has abundant natural resources, including 13 thousand hectares of forest just in Meigu County. The preserve is mainly for protecting panda (as a national rare animal) and its ecological environment.
