Lu Mountain Lu Mountain, as a provincial scenery spot, is also called Wa Mountain, and because Anning River (at its west foothill) was previously named as Xilu River, the mountain is called Lu. Lushan is located at southern bank of Qionghai in 5 km away from Xichang, with the main peak—Shamao Peak in an elevation of 2,317 m. It is adjacent to Qionghai in the east, Anning River in the west, Xichang in the north and Luoji Mountain in the south. Guangfu Temple is the largest temple and building group on Lu Mountain. Guangfu Temple faces the east and is constructed at hillside in steps, which is really grand looked from far away. The whole buildings are located on a central line, consisting of gate, Tianmen hall, Wanghai building, Daxiong hall, Qianfo hall, Wenwu hall and Kuixing building. In front of the temple, there is a wall plate with the words “Exceptional Scene in Southern Sichuan”. In the temple, there are exquisite sculpture, ancient clock, censers, stone tablet, copper Buddhist image and the poems created by famous people in various dynasties, which reflects the development of Lushan temples in hundreds of years. In front the temple, there is also ancient cedar since Han and Tang Dynasties, like dragon flying toward sky, which is strange. According to record, the cedar with diameter of 8.9 m was planted in Hui Emperor period of West Han Dynasty. In Mengduan Temple of Lu Mountain, there is “Xichang Earthquake Stone Tablets” in around 60 pieces, which is a protected cultural unit of Sichuan Province, which describe the earthquake occurring in Xichang, Mianning and Ganluo, and particularly, the time, shock, aftershock, injury and death of human and animal, and destruction of buildings of three earthquakes occurring at Xichang in 15th year of Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty (1536 AD), 10th year of Yongzheng period of Qing Dynasty (1732 AD) and 30th year of Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty (1850 AD), which is rare derailed record of earthquake in the form of stone tablets in China. On Lu Mountain, there are other scenes like Sanjiao Nunnery, Guanyin Nunnery and Wuzu Nunnery at peak. |
