As one of the Four Great Ancient Towns in Sichuan, situated 27km north on the downtown of Ya’an City, Shangli Ancient Town is a famous Historical and Cultural Town under Provincial-level Protection. With well-preserved styles and features of primitive simplicity of the Ming and Qin Dynasties, charming sceneries, rich revolutionary relics, the town is a major dak of the former southern Silk Road from the ancient pathways in Linqiong to Ya’an. Encompassed by two rivers, backing the Tiantai Mountain while facing open fields and hillocks, with surrounding age-old trees, tall bamboos, streams and ancient bridges next to each other, the ancient town was ever the place gathered with ancient merchants and now still preserves many buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasty styles.
