Dafeng Peak Nature Reserve of Mabian is located in Mabian County of Leshan City, 167 km away from Leshan with an area of 35,000 hm². The highest peak in the mountain is 4,042 m above the sea level. This nature reserve is integrated with Meigu Nature Reserve occupied about 46,000 hm² in total. In the area, rivulets flow vertically and horizontally, the topographic feature is high and steep, vegetation is abundant and luxuriant. The forest coverage ratio of the reserve is 82%.
Dafeng Peak Natural Reserve is a kind of nature reserve of forest and wild animals focusing on giant pandas and entironment protection. The reserve is affluent in species. It is known main plants there belong to 51 varieties, 132 categories and 248 kinds. Among them, Gong tung, spindle tree and Lian Xiang tree enjoy first class protection by state, and gingkgon tree and China fir of castor bean with three tines are under the second class protection. Moreover, main terrestrial vertebrates belong to 25 varieties, 75 categories and 268 kinds. The giant panda (the amount is about 32), Sichuan partridge, takin and other four wild animals are under state first class protection; lesser panda and kaleege are under second-class protection.
