Longchang Cloud Top Stockade 20 km from the county, the stockade is situated on the Cloud Top Mountain at the sea level of 530 m. Its construction was begun in the fourth year of Hongwu’s reign in Ming Dynasty and completed in the eleventh year of Xianfeng’s reign in Qing Dynasty. The total length of the bulwark reaches 1,640m, height 75m and width of the surface being 3-4 m, with 6 doors to the stockade. It is a well-preserved ancient castle. The Cloud Top Yard which is 500 m from the stockade was built for the owners of the stockade who would purchase things and have dinner there after playing cards at night. People entered the yard to make deals at night, leaving when the dusk broke. This custom has not been changed up to now. Thus, the local people call it the Ghost Market. |
