Lying Buddha Temple- the Paomatan Scenic Spot The lying Buddha of Tang Dynasty is a Key Cultural Relic under State-level Protection. It always stuns people with its exquisite sculpturing skills which present that of the sculptures in Dunhuang, Yungang, and Longmen and enlightened the sculptures in Dazu in later age. There are 1613 stone statues sculptured in Tang and Song Dynasty, and 15 rock caves in which there are more than 20 religious scriptures with over 400 thousand words and is of high research value. The Paomatan Reservoir is closed to Lying Buddha Temple with an area covering more than 160 hectares. The landscape on the two sides of the reservoir is as beautiful as a painting with the green water and the green mountain. In the area, the main historical and natural scenic spots include: the Emperor’s Grave, Duobing Cliff, Ancient Stone Road, Moon Village, Baihezui, Fengdong Stone, and Tortoise Rock, etc. |
