Jintong (golden boy) Mountain The Jintong(golden boy) Mountain, also called Jintong Yunu ( jade maid) Mountain, is situated in the Northwest of the Nuoshuihe Town, facing the Yuhuangba, and backed by the Phoenix Mountain. Two lofty pinnacles take an appearance like the Golden Boy and Jade Maid (the attendants of the Taoist Immortal) and the mountain got its name from this. Under the Daoguang’s (reign in Qin Dynasty) its beautiful scenery was recorded in the Tongjiang County Annals as “taking a shape like a bamboo shoot, the mountain stands erectly and is surrounded by river. The dangling rocks in the mountain is like hanged seals. There located the Zhenwu Temple.”According to the Revised Stele, the ancient Zhenwu Temple was initially built in the 2nd year of Ming Dynasty, and was renovated in March, the 50th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign”. There are three halls in this temple. The exquisite statue of Zhenwu Emperor is enshrined in the Main Hall. When you climb up the mountain, you will be rewarded by the fantastic sceneries with Taoist color including the rolling mountains and the splendid clouds sea. Certainly, it is also a good place to view the sunrise and sunset. |
