Zhaohua Ancient Town in Jiameng Pass Located in the place 20 km from the southwest of Guangyuan, old Jianmeng County is one of the oldest counties of Sichuan. It was set as Jiameng County in Qin Dynasty and was renamed as Hanshou in Three Kingdoms Period. The old city, situated in the strategic pass, had been a battle ground and strategic place of north Sichuan. The ancients people said it “borders Qinlong to the north, neighbors Jianguan to the west, it is the throat of the entire Shu and key to north Sichuan.” Although it is a small county, it is considerably difficult to capture. It is related to stories of Zhangfei fighting with Machao at night, Jiangwei being defeated at Niutou Mountain. The existing Zhaohua City was rebuilt in Ming Dynasty. The street was built with greenstones and four meters in width. The tomb of Feihui, the Premier of Shu Kingdom, is located in the west of the city. In the north lies the tomb of Baosanniang, the wife of Guansuo who was the son of Guanyu. The key post “Jubo Ferry” is situated in the east. The well-known Jiameng Pass is in the Mt.Niutoushan in the west of the city. |
