As one of the grand and well-preserved grottoes, it stretches as far as over two hundred meters from south to north, and has more than four hundred caves, seven thousand sculptures, nearly the same as Mogao Grottoes. There were formerly twenty thousand Buddha sculptures. Unfortunately, over half of them were destroyed in the explosions of construction of Chuanshan Highroad in 1935.
