Wanglang Panda Nature Preservation Zone in Pingwu Located in the northwest of Pingwu County and the north of Miangyang City, the Wanglang Nature Reserve covers a total area of 320 thousand hectares which accounts 5.4% of Pingwu County. It was approved as the Province-level Natural Reserve in 1996, and listed in the first approved giant panda reserve by Chinese government. Its eco-system is among the best preserved in China. With its northeast connecting with the Jiuzaigou at the Huanglong Temple, and southeast to the Baima Tibetan Region, it is founded to provide protection and habitat for precious wild animals such as the Giant Panda, Snub-nosed Monkey, Leopard, Sambar, Macaque, Lesser Panda, etc. The springs, waterfalls, jokuls, meadow weaves out a poetic landscape. The extraordinary Baima Tibetan Culture is also colorful in this region. Needless to say, blessed with all the advantages and resources, the zone has huge potentials for further development. |
