The Yongling Mausoleum The Yongling Mausoleum Museum is situated in the north of Sandongqiao in the west section of the Yangxi Road. It is also called the Wang Jian Tomb, for it is a mausoleum for Wang Jian, the first Emperor of Pre-Shu Kingdom. It rises from the ground and supported by 14 arches made of red sandstone. Among the arches there are red inlaid sandstone boards and the earth is humped up on the top of arches. The special arched building provides valuable information for studying the ancient Chinese architecture. In the tomb, Wang Jiang's coffin was laid on the bed in the central room with pictures of 24 musical players painted on three walls: the east, west and south. People also discovered large number of antiques including the seals, books, jade belts, silver bowls, silver boxes and jade rings which offer important clues for the research of the politics, economy, calligraphy, painting and handicrafts in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. |
