Qingchuan White Dragon Lake, a Key Scenic Spot under Province-level Protection, is located in Qingchuan County, 60 km from Guangyuan City. Situated in the gorge where the two mountains, Mt. Longmenshan and Mt. Motianling converge, White Dragon Lake is a tributary of White Dragon River, the upstream of Jialing River where Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot is positioned. Unpolluted by city wastes, the water there is lucid and the water area is vast, making the landscape extraordinarily pleasing. It is a new scenic spot integrating lake, island, hill, forest, valley, caves and rich historic and cultural relics.
White Dragon Lake area is a transportation center in ancient times. As the old entrance way into Shu in Qin and Han Dynasty, the famous Jinniu Road, Jinggu Road and Yinpin Road were convergent there. It is the battle ground of all ages, and there are many old passes, paths, and sites of the Long March of Red Army.
